The Puja Vidhi for Rohini Vrat

  • On the day of the fast, wake up early, preferably during Brahma Muhurta (the time just before sunrise, considered auspicious).
  • Take a bath and wear clean, preferably light-colored clothes. White is often chosen because it symbolizes purity and peace.
  • Before starting the puja, gather all the required items like flowers, fruits, incense sticks, ghee lamps (diya), a Kalash (water pot), and some fresh cloth to drape over the Kalash. You’ll also need kumkum (vermilion) for the tilak, rice grains (Akshat), and sweets as offerings.
  • Choose a clean space in your home for the puja. It could be in your home temple or any clean, quiet corner. Place a clean cloth for the deity, and set up an image or idol of Lord Vasupujya (the Jain Tirthankara) if you belong to the Jain community or Lord Krishna, if you practice Hinduism.
  • Place a kalash filled with clean water and decorate it with coconut and mango leaves on the top – this represents auspiciousness and fertility.
  • Once the altar is ready, light the ghee lamp and incense sticks.
  • Before you begin the formal prayers, take a moment to mentally invite the deity into your space. For this, you can chant the specific mantras dedicated to Lord Vasupujya or Lord Krishna. If you're unsure of specific mantras, simply reciting the name of your deity with a pure heart is equally powerful.
  • Next, offer clean water and fruits to the deity. This is a symbolic gesture where you offer everything you have – your food, your efforts, and your devotion – back to the divine.
  • At the end of the puja, offer an aarti to the deity.
  • After the aarti, bow down before the deity and seek blessings for your family’s health, happiness, and prosperity. You can distribute the prasad (offering) to family members after the puja concludes.
